Treatment with sivelestat sodium of acute respiratory distress syndrome induced by chemical pneumonitis: A report of three cases

چکیده
Inhalation of acid fumes and aspiration liquid substances or gastric contents may not initiate dyspnea within several hours after exposure but result in delayed onset alveolar edema. The present report presents three cases inhalation chemical that resulted acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Due to different underlying reasons, patients developed ARDS resulting from pneumonitis pulmonary infection. From with dyspnea, dry rales could be heard both lungs, <92% percutaneous oxygen saturation at room air. All were treated using a high‑flow nasal cannula sivelestat sodium. Oxygenation gradually improved the discharged without adverse events. These suggest early treatment sodium improve clinical outcomes ARDS.

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in a Patient With Suspected Influenza: A Case Report
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical syndrome consisting of tachypnea, refractory hypoxemia, and diffuse opacities on chest radiographs after infection or trauma which ultimately leads to respiratory failure. The principles of treatment are based on patient care in ICU, mechanical ventilation and medical treatments. By using lower plateau, less tidal volume, higher positive ...
متن کاملClinical utility of the neutrophil elastase inhibitor sivelestat for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome
Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a serious condition that can arise following direct or indirect lung injury. It is heterogeneous and has a high mortality rate. Supportive care is the mainstay of treatment and there is no definitive pharmacological treatment as yet. Sivelestat is a neutrophil elastase inhibitor approved in Japan and the Republic of Korea for acute lung injury, including a...
متن کاملSivelestat relieves respiratory distress refractory to dexamethasone in all-trans retinoic acid syndrome: a report of two cases
Treatment with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) improves the prognosis of patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), but ATRA syndrome may occur as a possible fatal side effect, especially in cases refractory to medication or involving pulmonary hemorrhage. We describe two patients with APL who suffered from intracranial hemorrhage. The first patient was a 16-yr-old girl who was treated wi...
متن کاملTherapeutic approach to a child with acute respiratory distress syndrome: a report of two cases.
The course of a respiratory disorder in a child may end up in respiratory failure. There are also acute non-respiratory diseases which have a great influence on the respiratory functions and often lead to the acute lung injury and sometimes to the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). A feature of respiratory function deterioration is changed in the surfactant system. We often see inhibit...
متن کاملEffect of neutrophil elastase inhibitor (sivelestat sodium) in the treatment of acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS): a systematic review and meta-analysis.
INTRODUCTION Sivelestat is neutrophil elastase inhibitor, which is widely used in Japan for the treatment of acute lung injury. However, the clinical efficacy of the medication has not been convincingly demonstrated. METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on sivelestat for the treatment of acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syn...
